What I find to damn stupid is that all competitors except Apple use Android or Honeycomb. WTF!
They are comparing ipad to other tablets essentially running the same effing OS.
Maybe because that's the only competitor there is right now? No WebOS tablet released. No BlackBerryOS tablet released. I guess technically they could've put some Windows 7 devices on there, but that would've been embarrassing ;)

I asked this because I am new to politics and want to learn more about it. When people answer this question most of the time they have reasons to back it up like things the candidate has done in the past. I am just trying to learn more about politics is all. And it starts a good thread full of information for me to read.

DUI checkpoints are unreasonable searches lacking probable cause. Any push back is reasonable and any support of them should be criminally prosecuted. Too bad they never prosecute themselves. We have lost our "right to liberty". Period.

The microsoft usability tax costs even more, in wasted time and low productivity.
While that may be true for you, it's not true for many others. Windows is not complicated no matter how much you want it to be.

While both Solaris and OSX are Unix OS's, that does not mean that OSX can scale as well as Solaris any more than it means that Solaris can run the OSX interface (which it obviously cannot).
The fact that OSX is some sort of Unix means a lot less than you seem to think. It is good because it means it adheres to certain standards, but it says little or nothing about the machinery that makes it go.

It is what I've been saying here for the last year. MR readers are not the target audience for the iPad, and that is why they have been so consistently wrong on the iPad's prospects until market data proves them wrong. We are NOT normal -- we like to hang out on a tech rumor site :)
The rest of the world gets the iPad and loves it.
I hang out on MR a lot. And a lot of other tech blogs as well. And I love my iPad 2.
Crap... I'm certainly not normal but I love iPad 2. What am I?
The iPad has broad appeal and I'm willing to bet at least a few people in that room love the iPad and didn't agree with Wozniak when he made the comment.

Before all you Apple fannies disagree with this; just remember Apple is trying to sue everyone else too.
It's all ridiculous.
Second that.
Everyone else? How many patent lawsuits has Apple initiated in the last decade? HTC. Any significant others?

I think this mentality is a direct result of the growing income gap in the US. If you pay the peons (lower and increasingly middle classes) less, any tax at all is going to hurt them. When the economy contracts, take away more of what makes a civil society civil and ramp up the continual but false idea that we're overtaxed...

This is a typical out of touch cable company STILL trying to get people to pay for a channel line up that includes 90% of choices they'll never look at.
Enough of this Time Warner, and the rest of you. Bring on the Netflix, Roku's, and AppleTV's of the world.

First of all, it isn't $99 unless you insist on paying full price.
Secondly, it is worth every cent. So much more than email, and fantastic for those who own more than one Mac.
Absolutely true.
I worked for a retail store that sold Apples. The Apple dealer wanted to sell .mac so badly (for sales goal reasons, I'm sure) that it was often bundled into the price of the computer.*
ps. don't tell apple! ;)

I watched a discovery channel show a few years ago where I think Spain was selling phones with a chip in them to act as a bus pass.
I would really like to see something like the OP become main stream. I like the MasterCard PayPass idea but you still need to take out a card and deal with your wallet; but if it was as easy as waving a phone and a pin code, I'd love it.

Just something I _think_ I remember reading, but didn't Apple change the firewire controller chip on some MacBook Pro's back around the time yours was made?
.... and the result was that some firewire devices were no longer recognized?
Suggestion:
If you can't find the solution on macrumors, also check:
macintouch.com (use search function to check old reader reports)
macfixit.com
I also think that some folks were able to "work around" this problem by using a firewire hub, but again, I can't confirm that.

I don't think Pages is horrible. It's not great, but it isn't quite as bad for me as everyone else finds it. I don't use it all that much (Keynote gets used far more than Pages does).
I'm with you. I'm new to the world of Mac and I want to stay clear of Word. It's not a great app, but it's something I'm getting used to.
Same with Keynote, different approach, but I like it better than the world of PP.

There is no point, but lots of people will tell you "you need all the room you can get." I stream all of my media content to my xbox. I only use the hard drive for downloadable games, game saves, and to "install" disc games to the drive. You can use a usb drive (16GB max) instead of a hard drive on the xbox.
There are 2 very good reasons for having a large hard drive, especially on the 360. You mentioned the game installs. That is the best reason ever. Not only do many games load things a little quicker, but the console becomes much quieter. The disc drive on the 360 is the source of much of its noise. By installing, you keep that drive from spinning while playing, and the system is MUCH quieter.
But also for downloadable stuff, which you mentioned. More and more games are releasing lots of DLC, and that can really add up. I have well over 12GB just in DLC for the games I own, and a little over 2GB in XBLA games. Now sure, as you said, you can use a USB drive. If you don't plan on downloading much stuff, that will work just fine. But, I really like having a ton of space. Even with many of my disc-based games installed, all my XBLA games, DLC and stuff, I still have over 30GB free to use for downloading demos and trailers and stuff, and I don't have to keep track of a bunch of different USB drives.

[QUOTE=HobeSoundDarryl;12235279]"Now with airplay" seems too far down the benefit list to drive many sales of TVs. I doubt it would be touted in any mainstream way- just as another line item of something else the TV can do. I don't picture people choosing to buy new TVs because they come with that particular benefit.[QUOTE]
