If you walk into an Apple store next Tuesday or Wednesday, do they usually have phones available after a lunch and if so, are the lines more manageable or is it a challenge to get a phone for a long time?
I am trying to decide if I should go ahead and pre-order one for 7/14 to be delivered to my house or if I could pick one up next week without quite so much insanity as Thursday is sure to offer :)

12 Petabytes doesn't seem like all that much. I have a 2TB drive sitting on my desk, and this would be like 6,000 of my drives. Doesn't seem like that much when you think about the amount of customers they are likely to be serving.

I wonder how many team members don't even know about the passkey/bonus system? Could we up output by educating them about that, as well as client configuration?
I keep seeing it discussed but I don't know what it is. What is the best way to fold? What gets me the most points I know I can add things to the advanced section what do I put? And what is passkey.

If Apple thinks they can do it better, all the more power to them.

Here are my reasons, so all you invective commenters can hold your horses. In my case, say you were waiting for an iPhone 5, and the rumors are (from numerous credible sources) that it's going to be delayed until Fall. Ok, big deal, it's just a few more months. But then, say that the rumors also say that it's just going to be an iPhone 3GS type of an update, same form factor, etc. No 4G, no bigger screen, blah blah blah. For me, I want the next "major" upgrade, with the most important feature being 4G. Why would anyone choose to wait to get locked into a contract with such a phone? Why not just get the iP4 now, and have your contract up when the iP6 comes out? Now, in addition, at the time all these rumors come out, you see a lot of evidence that the white iP4 is coming out in less than two weeks. You like the color white, so voila, it makes sense.

I believe this is to allow you to start your computer from a Mac OS X install disc on a remote computer. You will need to connect to your wireless network to see the available discs.
I think this feature was more useful for original MacBook Air and/or for installing Snow Leopard. Since the new MBAs come with a USB drive, and Lion is expected (or at least rumored) to be distributed as an App Store download, you probably won't need to use it at all.

In the UK, you are contracted to the retailer you bought it from. They are responsible for the product for six years. We have good laws in place to protect the consumer. I find it hard to understand why people never use their rights under laws such as the Sales of Goods Act.
A warranty is an insurance policy. Apple Care in the UK is not a policy from Apple, but a third party insurance company that they are contracted with. Can't remember the name of the company.
Apple are pretty good at repairing out of guarantee/Apple Care products, even when these times have lapsed. Had a power supply and logic board in my 4 year old iMac replaced for free. Sales of Goods Act is your best friend. :)

I don't think an iPad should be expected to last 6 years though.
Remember almost everything you buy is subject to SOGA, and I can't ask my local stationers to replace my black biro after 5 years if it stops working!

Well you talk about fairness, I don't think its fair that your studies are funded by the government and mine are not, even though I will be working directly for the government in the very near future. And, its not fair to me that you may very well benefit directly from my work in several ways. For example, say you come to America for a holiday, and you are mugged. It would be my job to help get the guy responsible for your mugging and to be able to put you back to your position before you were mugged, at no cost to you because you are not an American citizen and don't pay taxes. So, I feel toat you owe me money because that would be fair. I know i'm making money as an attorney, but so is Loren on the many, many other projects he has going on for him. Its only fair that we are both compensated justly for everything we do, right? Just like you would want to be compensated by me if I came to your country and needed medical help, it would be nothing out of my pocket, and that doesn't seem fair to you personally doing something without just compensation.
My point is, each of us has our own lives to support, because really when it comes down to it, no one else is giving us a free ride...well except for you and thats not really fair. Well then to educate you, in America, no one gets a free ride. We're all for ourselves here, and then we have to pay taxes up the ass for the people on welfare who mooch off of the welfare system without really doing anything. No ones gonna help me with my law school loans even though the work I am doing will benefit many, many people. I will get a small government salary (criminal prosecutors do not make a lot of money at all, thats why so many attorneys try to go to private practices and big law firms, to make that 6 or 7 figure income). Does that seem fair? No.

In America, we thrive on customer satisfaction. I personally do not feel Loren did enough with Tweetie 1 in satisfying his customers before going ahead and charging full price for an "update." And his excuse that Apple didn't provide an upgrade path is a cop out. I read his tweet on the decision; he did it because he "had the balls to do it." He should at least go back to Tweetie 1 and upgrade that as much as possible until he can't anymore. He stated that he wanted to do things to Tweetie that were impossible to do without rewriting the app from scratch. Thats fine, but you can't leave your old customers out in the cold like he did. Should I get the next Radiohead album for free since I paid for "In Rainbows?" Should I get free admission to the next Batman movie because I paid to see the last one? They're all new works, with new money and time put into them, just like Tweetie 2, so we pay for them anew, regardless of how many other projects the creators have going on, how financially OK they are, or how good or bad the antecedent was. Oh, and there was a big old warning on the Tweetie 1 entry warning potential buyers that 2 was just around the corner. Don't know how long it was there, but it was there.

• Use attachments when necessary so images don't disappear when they are removed from their source
• When possible, include links to the full-sized original so others can download them. If you don't want to share, state that in your posts so others don't continue to ask for links.
• When quoting a post with images, leave the image out, or make sure you [tIMG] to reduce clutter.

OK, I've been thinking about this event now for a day. I noticed two what I would consider Steve faux pas. The first being Mr. Jobs brought up the one thing I have been hoping and begging for since the beginning of iTunes and the iTunes store: the Beetles. Why on earth other than "Hey, I like them" would he bring up an artist, in this case a group, that is not even available in the store? Was it a test? Was he hoping to hear a reaction from the audience that would push Sir Paul over the edge and join the throngs of iTunes lovers? Give me a break! The fourth largest music retailer should be able to pull in any band. Fact is, those of us who love them are getting older and the new generation thinks they are six legged arthropods.
Along the same lines was the Paramount introduction. Vague to say the least. Now, in the background were titles like the Italian Job (both of them), Paycheck, and K-19. They are not to be seen on the store. Sure, Thursdays seem to be the day of updates for the movies but Steve said they were updating right as he was giving the keynote. Another slip?
