My company is going through a merger and it will be complete by third qtr of this year. I already filed my AOS on July 2nd.
I was told by my immigration attorney that if a buyer (new company) takeover all the immigration liabilities then I don't need to file an amendment. Is this correct?

SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE!!!!
My employer got back to me today & informed me that based on the advise of the attorney they will not be providing me a copy of the I-140. He understands that I can leave the company anytime & that he would never hold me back. My question is if there is any other way of getting a copy of the I-140? Is a copy of either the approval notice or the receipt number critical?

Your 485 was moved from NSC to TSC, and so was mine, and I got FP recently. My EAd/AP was filed in NSC on Aug 10, got receipt notice, but no other news yet. where did you file your EAD/AP, is it in NSC? If so did you get your EAD?
My 485 was sent to TSC and then Fwd to VSC and came back to TSC. It never went to NSC
EAD was issued from VSC, AP query for PP copies was issued from VSC as well

i got an rfe too. I think its sent to both the attorney and the applicant. They said they mailed the RFE yesterday, so hopefully by early next week I should have it. I am guessing its employment verification due to me filing change-of-address. i know for sure that my ex-employer did not revoke 140.

Whatever work related activities you do, including finding new clients, while employed, belongs to the employer (unless you have an agreement to the contrary, which you don't). Therefore, when you leave the employer, as per agreement you have, you can not take those clients with you.

You can just drag and drop the icon you want into Blend or explicitly add it via the Projects panel :)
Your question on connecting to an XML data source is interesting because there are several ways of doing this. One approach is by using Linq and just parsing the output.

I have an input search TextBox, but instead of using a simple button control (for the click event) I would like to use the magnifying glass icon as the search button --something similar to how Bing (on WP7) uses the mic in the search box. How can I accomplish this?

USCIS delays GC approvals with some reason

I work for TOP 10 and background check is very serious here after enron debacle.
We interviewed several people and offered positions. To my surprise there are huge number of people fail the stringent background check of my company. They do it through private firm I beleive. They check all the previous employment, school / college records etc etc. Scary if you commit even a small offense like drunk and drive, etc etc and it affects your career.
THE FAILED persons are all CITIZENS.
What makes you say they can not check your previous salary if you hold GC/Citizenship. This does not seem right.
Actually it depends upon company to company how much background check they do and not on your visa status.

My PD is Dec 2005 (EB2) and I'm on EAD. I dont know when I'll get the GC but hoping that I'll get it in the next year. I already got an RFE so I'm not expecting another one. The question is, if I get laid off now, can I buy a business (say a convenience store or a subway) and run it (while on EAD)? and would it cause any problems now or in the future when applying for citizenship? I know you have to work in same or similar industry, but my industry is hard hit with recession and I don't think I can find a similar job. So how will they enforce this? Or do they even care?
technically speaking the answer would be "absolutely not"; however, you could try your luck. There might not be another RFE for you and you might get greened. I have known people who were waiting for 485 approval and got laid off. They did nothing but wait anxiously till the miracle happened and the GC showed up in the mail. I was in a similar situation but since I had efiled, i had the LIN #. So i sent the photos after 2 weeks from my filing date. Did not wait for RFE. I received approvals on AP. In your case, you dont have a choice. In case you checks are cashed, try to capture the receipt # and then send the pictures by referncing the receipt #. It will make your case processing faster.

and did anybody notice that the ICE is changing its track. They are now charging these folks of stealing ID's instead of the normal illegal charge. Ultimately this is opening up the way for local law-enforcement to charge people not on immigration violations but ID theft. This is pretty innovative and must have some political backing somewhere.

Thanks, Sanju. I was wondering where to ask for assurance; looks like you have found a place. I too need some help: last time my fingerprint check took almost 8 months (!) and I gave one set of them again today. Can somebody assure me that they will comeback before the dates become U again. The desperation of your post suggests that you don't need direction, you need therapy. We just need someone to give us some assurance that we will all be fine and live to see the light of the day on Tuesday even if DoS sends out a revised Visa Bulletin.
