just seems to me that people are acting like its a feature that shouldn't be on a phone rather then one that is almost standard. it also just seems that IM's are quicker conversations then texts, but maybe i'm wrong about that cause on phones it's pretty much the same thing.
Well, that's the thing. Every iPod has featured something innovative. The original delivered a small music player capable of holding a (at the time) extensive amount of songs with seamless software. The 3G iPod opened the doors to all users. The mini added even more style and portability to it, making it very popular. The nano held even more songs in a smaller package with a color screen. The 5G iPod delivered all of the above with the ability to watch TV shows and movies on it. Each iPod has brought something to the table that's new and kept competitors guessing what they would do next. Advertising an iPhone, a major step for them, with instant messaging won't cut it. That's already out there. Up until the release of the 5G iPod, you couldn't buy TV shows legally on the internet. Instant messaging on your phone is offered by all of Apple's potential competitors should they decide to enter the mobile phone market.
yea, but i think that if they do a full tiny keyboard, they will be going for something similar to a sidekick. the sidekick 3 was a major let down.
I love the Sidekick. It's been a hugely successful phone. I think it was great that the SK3 added music, a 1.3 MP shooter, and EDGE, but I do agree they could have at least kept EDGE in there. I think Apple would be smart to make a device similar to the Sidekick. This doesn't mean that they need to make a swiveling screen, (even though it's been patented a million times by Danger) but I think people are starting to warm up to smartphones now. My generation (teen) and my sister's (early 20's) are especially. I have heard that Apple may be launching two devices: one simple phone and a smartphone, which is probably smart because not everyone is interested in a smartphone.

it cracks me up that people are making a big deal of 64bit. Sure, it'd be nice, but I'd rather have the software be multithreaded worth a rat's ass, and work properly.
Nothing quite brings the same joy to my heart as starting a render in FCP and having a look at Activity Monitor, and seeing a whopping two cores in use. Or having to export a QT file first because I can't send directly to Compressor.

Yes it WILL slow down your device, just a bit. Launching animation will be ocassionally jerky or cut off altogether, as apps struggle with limited memory.

I sold a 1,1 motherboard on ebay 3-4 weeks ago, and the seller has just come back to me saying the onboard doesnt work and wants a refund.
It was listed as used, tested and powers on ok.
1 - Anyone dare to hazard a guess at the likely outcome.
2 - Do all USB connections go through the same controller / PCB?
3 - Are there any 'resets' to be had that might correct this issue?
thanks

Interesting! So under your description Macromedia Studio/Adobe CS are free apps as well ;)
For one month. If you were a profesional you could potentially make enough money with the Adobe 30 day trials to pay for the full programs.
Whether or not you can be productive with it even with the limited time. Now if the program can be ran but you could not save what you produced out of it then it would not be free.

Love the idea but the execution is a joke. So you download the app and get exactly one crappy game, Pong, and you have to wade through dozens of other games just to find it and play it.
Then if you want to get one of the good classics you get is in a "4-pack" that includes 3 games you don't care about. So if you really want all the classics you are essentially forced to buy all 100 games for $20.
Soooo, how many games did you get originally for $20? What a lame gripe!
Personally, I couldn't stand to listen to the primitive sound effects for the whole length of the attached video... my ears! my ears!

Then when you use an email Server use IMAP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Message_Access_Protocol) instead of POP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_Office_Protocol) and keep your email on the server (until that server goes away).

Saw one of these parked up down my road earlier, in my opinion it's the best car on the market today. Amazing looking, so comfortable, and very very fast when they need to be.

Dang! I can't tell you how many billions of dollars I spent on these games as a yout. Ha. Now I could have them all for $15. But too late I guess. I downloaded Tempest for old times sake. It was my fav in the arcade. I don't know if its my age or the iPhone but just not that fun.

Where can I download a DMG file of OS X Lion Build 11A419. I found sites with rar files or torrent files but no DMG file.
You have to either be invited to the program or pay $99 for the developer program. In short if you have to ask where to get it you're probably not qualified.

You know the belt clip that comes with the iPod mini?
Is there one for the big iPods?
If there is, can you provide a link.

Like many, since 4.3 battery life has sucked. I am recharging mid day.
Hopefully, they finally fix the battery.

Hey guys, I want to buy a blackberry curve. Doesn't matter if it's the 8300, 8310 or 8320. The cosmetic condition is not important either as long as everything is in perfect working order. I'd prefer to buy a very scratched up curve if it means a lower price so here's a chance to get rid of a beat up blackberry. Please post or PM me what you have. Thanks!

I hope they add 4:2 cropping. It is silly that the iPhone app can croop in many aspect ratios but does not crop in the iphone aspect ratio.

I've had my 5th gen. iPod video for about five years now, and it's treated me well; until last night. I was lying in bed listening to music, and I wanted to skip the song, so I pushed the forward button. Nothing happens. I try it again; the iPod freezes for about 20 seconds, then totally powers down, and makes a clicking noise (sounds like a drive maybe?).
Now, every time I turn the iPod on, I get the Apple logo, and it immediately goes to the "Connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore" screen, and after about 10 seconds, it powers off, again making the same whine/click noise. It's in a loop with this.
If I plug it into my computer, it doesn't read whatsoever; nothing on my desktop, nothing in iTunes, but the iPod itself goes to disk mode with a white screen and a "do not disconnect" sign. I cannot seem to get it out of disk mode, let alone get my computer to recognize it, so I can't restore it. I have a Macbook, and I've tried to restore it using other computers (several Windows systems) and it recognizes a "USB mass storage device", but doesn't appear in iTunes or anywhere else.
I've tried doing the manual reset, tried diagnostics mode, and to no avail. It's stuck in disk mode in a perpetual loop every time I turn it on, and NO computers will recognize it.
I have a really old 3GB iPod mini that I got years ago, so that's been my replacement for the past 24 hours— problem is, 3GB hardly compares to the 30GB that was on my iPod video; I can't even fit a quarter of my library on it. I'm kind of upset about it, I mean, I know that 5 years is quite awhile, but I've taken extremely good care of the device. It's been in a protective case ever since I got it, and I rarely drop it. I use it about every day. Any ideas on what I can do? To my understanding, if the hard drive has crashed, a sad iPod logo will appear, and that hasn't happened yet, so... who knows? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I don't really want to pay Apple to repair it because I may as well buy a new iPod (which I won't be able to do for quite awhile, broke college student here).
